It’s a hard thing when a relationship ends. I Personally spent over 6 years single by choice after losing the love of my life at the time.
I just didn’t want to deal with the emotional detachment that destroyed a piece of me again for quite some time.
Sound pathetic? Maybe… but now that I’m married and have two kids the stress of it all makes me look back fondly on those alone years. (Although through all the stress a wife and two kids can conjure up at times, everything feels totally worth it when I see my kids faces light up with smiles.)
I miss being able to focus on my art, music, and the excess of gaming time I had, but I guess I can go back to that when the kids (3, and 4 years old) grow up.
Now I realize you live an “alternative” lifestyle, but whatever, love is love and the emotion is the same no matter how hard some assholes out there in the world try to legislate their personal views into law.
Maybe I’m just some douche bag on the internet, but all the same I hope you are able to find your equilibrium, and focus on the other things you love in life for now.

It sounds like you maybe get too attached too quickly. Being an emotional person, I guess it would be hard for you to be any different.
I don’t know if it is always inevitable.
